Current Rates and Charges

South Adams County Water and Sanitation District currently bills water on a tier system based off of the customer’s water usage throughout the month. The customer’s wastewater rate is calculated by the resident’s average winter consumption (AWC) in January, February, and March and then a fixed wastewater rate is applied based off of the customer’s AWC for the remainder of the year. There are four tiers for the fixed wastewater rate. For example the average household of four uses approximately 7000 gallons a month, therefore the household would be billed for wastewater at the 3,000 and over tier, which for 2023 is $47.82.

If you are a new customer who was not in the residence during January, February, and March and an AWC was not determined the wastewater rate will automatically be set at the 3,000 and over tier (the most common tier), until the following year when an AWC can be calculated.

Water Softening Project Fee:

The centralized water softening fee for 2023 is $4.09 per month for a single-family residential equivalent. The fee will be reset every year based on the total number of ERU’s on our system, which should result in it going slightly down every year. This fee will be distinguished on customer’s water and wastewater bills as a “Centralized Water Softening Fee” separate from the water and wastewater charges.
